American Legion Post No. 15

December 2014

The next regular meeting will be on January 20th, 2015 at 8:00 P.M. The House and Officers’ meeting will be on January 27th, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. All are invited to attend. Remember to fly our flag January 1st, (New Year’s Day), and January 19th, (Martin Luther King’s Day).

Please keep our service men and women in our prayers. Pray for their safe and speedy return.

COMMANDER—Robert is still looking for someone to take over the position of Americanism. If interested, see our commander. Also if any of our members have a relative that would like to go to Boy’s State or Girl’s State see one of our Officers. The young man or woman must be at least a junior in high school and must be a good student.

FIRST VICE—Roger reported we have 117 members that have paid dues so far.

FINANCE OFFICER—This is a reminder that the 2015 dues are being collected. The dues are $35.00 plus a $10.00 assessment to help pay off our debt for the WWI memorial fund. Therefore the total will be $45.00. All members are being asked to pay this assessment; this includes PUFL’S, LIFE MEMBERS, AND MEMBERS ON ACTIVE DUTY STATUS. When this debt is paid off dues will go back to $35.00. Thanks to all.

CHAPLAIN—Tom reported that Vincent DiRaimonda has been under the weather. A get well card was sent to him.
MORTUARY—Tom reported the loss of 62 year member, Paul Grana. Card was sent to the family.

50/50—The winners were Ron Mier, Frank Valenti, and a ticket was drawn but no one claimed it. On the back of the ticket was written the word donate. Frank Valenti and unknown winner donated back to the WWI Memorial. Thank you.

HOUSE PRESIDENT—Roger thanked all that help support the House side, such as the Sunday Bar, the BBQ, etc.

GOOD OF THE LEGION—The subject was brought up as to why it was voted on to pay off the WWI debt and yet we are still collecting the $10.00 assessment from the members. The answer is at this time the debt was still not paid off as we had to see were we stood with what has been coming in thru the dues and the extra $10.00. Our Commander also stated that it had been voted on to collect this fee until the end of dues collection time. At this point 117 members have paid that fee, and it would not be right to let the rest slide by. The members were also informed that at this time a process was in the works to pay off the debt as voted upon.

At this time the Officers would like to wish all a HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Commander, Robert Oldani
