Welcome to Our Post
Since our charter in May 14, 1946, Rollo-Calcaterra Post #15 has been welcoming veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. Joining our post enables you to continue to serve your country, community & God. Our mission is to implement the goals embodied in our preamble.
The next regular meeting will be on July 21st, 2015 at 8:00 P.M. The House and Officers’ meeting will be on July 28th
, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. All are invited to attend. Remember to fly our flag on July 4th (Independence Day), and July 27th (Korean War Ended).
Please keep our service men and women in our prayers. Pray for their safe and speedy return.
FIRST VICE—Roger introduced one guest/prospective member. He was Jim Sanders (Army) Vietnam Era. He also gave the report that we have 198 paid members.
FINANCE OFFICER—Jim gave the finance report which was accepted. He will also begin collecting the 2016 dues in July. The dues will once again be $35.00
CHAPLAIN—It was reported that Ernie Garascia had spent some time in the hospital, but was now out. Hope you are feeling better?
AMERICANISM—Benny read a thank card from Liam John the young man from St. Ambrose School who received the American Legion awards from the post for his accomplishments.
HOUSE PRESIDENT—Roger and the members of this post would like to give a special thanks to Mike “Ludy” McVey for all the painting he has done in and around the Post.
50/50—The winners were Tony De’Bella, Kenny Dieckman, and Roger Gray. All returned their winnings to the post. On behalf of the post we thank you.
OLD BUSINESS—Post once again furnished the Color Guard for the St. Ambrose Corpus Christi Procession. All went very well.
NEW BUSINESS—Roger made a motion which also had a second and passed with a vote to purchase a memorial brick for the POW/MIA Museum which will be located in Jefferson Barracks Park. The brick will cost $150.00. It will be a memorial for a member, Angelo Calcaterra who was MIA during the Second World War. The inscription will read, “ In Memory of Angelo Calcaterra a member of Rollo-Calcaterra, American Legion, Post 15. MIA January 1944”.
A request was made by Kenny Dieckman for the post to purchase a back-up camera for the vehicle that is used to transport veterans to medical appointments, etc. Request was tabled to the Officer’s meeting.
