American Legion Post No. 15

The next regular meeting will be on May 17th, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. The House and Officers’ meeting will be on May24th, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. All are invited to attend. Remember to display our flag on May 8th (V-E Day/Mother’s Day), May 15th half-staff till sunset, May 21st (Armed Forces Day), and May 30th, half-staff till noon (Memorial Day). This is also a reminder to join us at the Post for our Memorial Day Ceremony to honor our deceased members. This will take place at 11:00 A.M on May 30th. Get there at 10:30, we will have donuts before and the bar will be open after ceremony.

Please keep our service men and women in our prayers. Pray for their safe and speedy return.

Thank you to all who have made the 2016 Lenten Fish Fry season our most profitable in five years. Without your participation and dedication to producing a great product we would not have been able to reach this level of success. Rather than trying to name and run the risk of leaving someone off I am just going to list the jobs that you staffed in alphabetical order with many of you filling more than one job: bartenders, cake cutter and boxers, customer ordering table and accounting, fish breaders, fish and shrimp cooks, food runners, pre-event Friday set up crew, pasta cooks, post event inside and outside clean-up crew, serving line, shoppers, slaw makers, and the upstairs crew. You can see that it takes a great team to get this done. We produce a great product and the proof lies in our customers and the number of meals we serve each week. The Post thanks all of you, the businesses on The Hill that provide products for our event, and most of all to our customers for the great year.

FIRST VICE—We had one guest, Darrel Curtis.

ADJUTANT—Skip reported the nomination committee met on March 9th, and the following names were brought up as the next set of Officers. They are Commander (Al Lancaster), First Vice (Lou Venegoni), Second Vice (Roger Gray), Judge Advocate (Gary Garcia), Finance Officer (Jim Gualdoni), Chaplain (Tom Messina), Historian (John Denando), and Sgt-at – Arms (Jim Venegoni). These will be our Officers for the next year. (Congratulations to all).

FINANCE OFFICER—The financial report was read and accepted.

CHAPLAIN—Tom reported three members as being under the weather. They are Angelo Macchi, Joe DeGregorio, and Mike Morgan. Card sent to them, may you all have a speedy recovery.

MORTUARY—Tom reported the loss of three members. Charles Gilmer, a member of the post for eight years and Ron Woods, a thirteen year member. We also lost Bernard Kunes, a member for 45 years. Cards were sent to their families.

HOUSE PRESIDENT—Roger reminded everyone of the Spring BBQ which will be held on Sunday May 15th starting at 11:00 A.M. As in the past we will be needing help from our members as workers as well as customers. We will also need members to bring in cakes and other goodies to be used as desserts. Thanks to all in advance.

OLD BUSINESS—Motion was made to amend the By-Laws to change the start time of meetings from 8:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. It was voted on and passed. From now on the meeting will start at 7:00 P.M., still the third Tuesday of the month.

50/50—Winners were Tom Messina, Mike Licavoli and Charles Oldani. Tom returned his to what is now known as the Stove Fund. Charlie returned his to the house. And Mike returned his to the Post. Thanks to all.
